Summer Mission 2010 - "Mighty to Save"

Our Team:

Our team of 92 members have been assembled since January 2010 and after many month of training, preparation and fundraising we departed July 24 for Ben Tre, Vietnam. The team includes: 8 primary care physicans, 3 dentists, 3 pharmacists, 4 nurses, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Obstetrician/Gynecologist, General Surgery, ENT/Head & Neck Surgery along with a supportive staff of 70 supportive staffs.

Our Patients:

From July 24 - August 6, 2010 our team treated 3,500 patients in 10 hamlets in Ben Tre Province. Out of those 3,500 patient 79 of them needed life-changing surgeries and were taken to Ben Tre Provincial Hospital where our team of surgeons operated successfully on them, giving them a new leash on life.

Our needs:

Our budget for Mission 2010 was $65,000 not including $2,000 contributed by members. During our Mission we diagnosed 8 children with severe congenital heart defects. Without help they will die but our team was not able to operate on them. We did however raised $16,000 upon our return at our "For the love of a child" fundraiser in October 2010. The entire amount was used to sponsor these children for surgery at the Heart Institute in Saigon.

See the results of these surgeries on our blog.
