Visit Vietnam and leave a long lasting impression

WHERE:  One to three month teaching rotation in Hue, Vietnam’s third largest city.  Home to Vietnam’s first emergency medicine residency currently under development. Rotate at both Hue Central Hospital (large, county-type facility) and Hue College of Medicine and Pharmacy (academic facility) emergency departments.

DUTIES:  Teaching and working with residents and dedicated specialty faculty who are already working in the emergency room.  Ride alongs with ambulance if interested.  Occasional lectures.  Case discussions in “morning rounds” type format.

AMENITIES:  Very affordable housing with free WiFi and washer/dryer which is a short walking distance to both hospitals. Minutes to local restaurants and grocery stores.

Concierge service, cook, house cleaner are available for extra fee.

TIME OFF:  Weekends off, so there is time for day or weekend trips to the many interesting sites around Hue including beaches, historical sites, national parks.  Opportunities for dinner at faculty homes and other great cultural experiences.

LOOKING FOR:  Compassionate, flexible, and independent senior residents, fellows and faculty interested in sharing their knowledge by example and learning about emergency medicine as it develops in Vietnam.  Your involvement will help shape the specialty of Emergency Medicine in Vietnam over the next 5-10 years.  Learning English is of great interest to many Vietnamese faculty and any accompanying spouses or other travel companions are welcome.

OUR GROUP:  Emergency physicians from around the United States, Australia and Europe who have been working in Hue to further emergency medicine in Vietnam since 2003.  Our experiences in Hue range from spending a week teaching at a provincial conference to spending several months in the emergency departments doing hands on teaching.  Our interest is the appropriate development of Emergency Medicine and EMS systems in Vietnam
